Description:

This course will provide instruction on essentials of hunting deer for food, including topics such as: basics of deer biology and ecology, how to hunt deer, making ethical shots, basic hunting equipment and shooting techniques, field dressing and field care of venison, and preservation and cooking venison with a local chef and cooking instructor. Participants will have opportunity to be certified in hunter education (required for hunters born on or after 1 Jan. 1975). Participants will also have opportunity to hunt on Nov. 16 or other subsequent dates with experienced deer hunters, using crossbows or rifles and ammunition provided as part of the course.
