Description

To participate in this program you must purchase a hunting license. ***Update: Anyone who did not yet purchase a licnese in 2018 may buy a one day hunting license for the day of the event. You can do so here https://app.fw.ky.gov/solar/

You must have completed your hunter safety course and received your hunter safety orange card prior to attending this workshop. Kentucky recognizes all other states hunter safety trainings as long as you can present your card when you check in. You can find in person courses, online courses, and range days here https://fw.ky.gov/Education/Pages/Hunter-Education.aspx

The cost of the program is $5 per person to participate. The money will be accepted on the day of the event when checking in. Please either bring exact change or bring a check.

This program was designed by the Ruffed Grouse Society and the American Woodcock Society as an introduction to upland bird hunting with dogs. Lifelong upland game hunters from these organizations have partnered with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to host this program. The topics that will be covered during the workshop include gun safety, marksmanship, dog handling, field skills, habitat awareness, mapping, and more! All of the equipment for the program will be provided. You will be receiving a booklet to take notes in so we encourage you to do so, and keep it as a reference for the future. Dress for the weather and wear shoes that are able to get muddy. About 75% of the workshop will be outside. If you have questions please contact the program coordinator.
