We will begin our day with an overview of safety, rules, and hunting tips. There will be some time on the range to practice shooting clay targets to get you in the groove. At 11am we will hit the dove field and hunt until everyone is done or until shooting hours end. If there are birds that are harvested mentors will be there to help you process them and get them ready for the table.
All necessary equipment will be provided with the exception of chairs or buckets to sit on in the field. If you have your own shotgun that you would like to try using, please feel free to bring it and the ammo that matches it. Recommended firearms include 20 gauge or 12 gauge shotguns with a modified or improved cylinder choke in the barrel. If you don't know if your firearm has these features, bring it and we can help you. Every participant must have their orange card (hunter safety card), a hunting license, and completed their HIP survey online to attend this workshop and participate in the hunt. Dress for the weather, plan to get dirty and be prepared to be on uneven ground. There are no overnight accommodations for this event. We will be providing a pizza lunch.
