KY Fish and Wildlife Commission Nomination Meeting - 4th District - Barren County

WHAT IS IT? Kentucky’s Fish and Wildlife Commission meets quarterly in Frankfort to help provide oversight of the department and guide development of the state’s regulations on hunting, fishing, boating and related matters. This is your opportunity to nominate, vote if more than five nominations are received, or be nominated to potentially serve on this important nine-member board.

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE? Resident hunters or anglers in the 4th District who, for the past two consecutive years, held a Kentucky hunting or fishing license or hunted or fished in the Commonwealth while license-exempt under KRS 150.170. Nominees will be chosen at this meeting and submitted to the governor, who will appoint one nominee for the remainder of the term ending Dec. 31, 2025 on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission, subject to Kentucky Senate confirmation. The 4th District includes Adair, Barren, Cumberland, Edmonson, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, Larue, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Nelson, Taylor and Washington counties.

WHO MAY BE NOMINATED? Eligible nominees must: be a current resident of the district; not be a convicted felon; for at least the previous five consecutive years, held hunting and fishing licenses or hunted and fished in Kentucky while license-exempt under KRS 150.170; and be well informed about wildlife conservation and restoration.

Field to Fork - Deer Hunting Workshop - Clark County

The Clark County Cooperative Extension Services and the KY Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources have partnered to host a single-day, in-person Field to Fork workshop for adults interested in learning how to hunt deer for food. This program is designed for adults interested in hunting deer as a sustainable, local meat source and with no prior hunting background. Throughout the workshop, we will cover topics such as deer ecology, deer hunting regulations, hunting techniques, scouting, equipment, deer hunting clothing, and hunting safety. There will be a deer processing demonstration and time spent on the range learning how to use deer hunting equipment such as crossbows. Much of this workshop will be outside so please dress for the weather.
