Open under statewide regulations for all hunting and trapping seasons, except firearms may not be used to take deer during the October muzzleloader and modern gun deer seasons. Open under statewide regulations for youth gun seasons.

Deer: Quota hunt, two consecutive days starting the first Saturday in November. Check-in, checkout required at John A. Kleber WMA office. Archery, crossbow, December muzzleloader and youth gun seasons open under statewide regulations.  

  • Shooting hours are from one-half hour before sunrise to 2 p.m. Hunters may not enter the area until 4 a.m.

Directions & Description

Primary access via US-127 near Monterey, KY. One mile west of Gest (near Lock 3) on HWY 561, ½ mile north of Gest; 1 mile south of Gratz on Brown’s Bottom RD; 4 miles south of Gratz on KY 355.

River flood plain and associated uplands, old fields and oak-hickory forest. Mobility impaired access to permit holders in designated area: Welch Tract - Hardin Bottoms.

Owned by Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, portions purchased with funds from the Heritage Lands Conservation Fund.
