Directions & Description

Tygarts State Forest is west of and adjacent to Carter Caves State Resort Park off KY 182. From the south take I-64, then KY 182 (Carter Caves RD) north through Carter Caves State Resort Park. From Wesleyville, take KY 02 to KY 182, to Oakland Ridge RD. Also accessible by a short hike from Carter Caves State Resort Park, access from Maintenance Drive or Cave Branch RD.

Hilly with some gently sloping ridge tops, forested in hardwoods. No developed/marked roads/trails. Lodging and recreational facilities are located at Carter Caves State Resort Park.

Tygarts State Forest is owned by Kentucky Division of Forestry.
