Our Hunter Education classes have been moved and can be viewed online at Education Course Events.

3D Archery Shoot Jones-Keeney WMA Hosted by Caldwell County Sport - Caldwell County

Come shoot 30 3D target at Jones-Keeney WMA. The course winds thru some of the Old Growth woods, up and down hills, got a shot you take off a bluff, then a moving coyote target if you dare. Targets range from small to large there is a good mix of targets. ASA scoring with club rules. Our club shoots year around. Come join Caldwell County Sportsman Club membership and it will save you on event fees thru out the year. Bring your current year Membership card and get $5.00 off your entry fee. We are trying to provide one of the best 3D Courses around! So come out and enjoy some 3D Archery with family and friends! Entry fees are as follows 18 and older $20.00 14-17 $15.00 9-13 $10.00 8 & under FREE

Grant County 4-H Shooting Sports - Archery Practice - Grant County

Archery practice for Grant County 4-H shooting sports club. Participation is exclusive to members who are registered with the County Extension and have completed six (6) safety hours. These practices will be held on the Archery Range near Leary Lake. On occasion, practice will be split into novice and advanced shooters; novice shooters will stay on the range, while the advanced shooters will walk the Archery Trail located nearby. Lloyd Area Skeet Club – Skeet on Fridays in - Grant County

Skeet is best shot with an open choke - Improved Cylinder or Skeet - and #9 or #8 shot. The Club is following all instructions from the State of Kentucky regarding the COVID 19 pandemic. If you are feeling sick, stay at home or see your medical professional. Please do not come to the Club. The Club is sometimes open on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday for a few hours between 12 Noon and 8:00pm, for Kentucky Skeet Shooting Association (KSSA) practice sessions and alternate bad weather days. During these days, the Club is always Open to the Public. Specific times and dates for these events will be posted to the KDFWR calendar.

Lloyd Area Skeet Club – Skeet on Sundays in - Grant County

Skeet is best shot with an open choke - Improved Cylinder or Skeet - and #9 or #8 shot. The Club is following all instructions from the State of Kentucky regarding the COVID 19 pandemic. If you are feeling sick, stay at home or see your medical professional. Please do not come to the Club. The Club is sometimes open on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday for a few hours between 12 Noon and 8:00pm, for Kentucky Skeet Shooting Association (KSSA) practice sessions and alternate bad weather days. During these days, the Club is always Open to the Public. Specific times and dates for these events will be posted to the KDFWR calendar.

NKSSA Ladies Day at the Range - Grant County

This Free Event is for the ladies only sponsored by the Northern Kentucky Straight Shooters Association. Join us at 1 p.m. for lunch. Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Public Meeting - Henderson County

Officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources have scheduled a public meeting in Henderson County to address concerns about Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). The meeting will be from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. (CT) on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at North Middle School, 1707 2nd St. in Henderson.

The meeting follows confirmation from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources that a 2½-year-old male deer, harvested by a hunter in Posey County, Indiana, tested positive for CWD. Posey County sits just across the Ohio River from Kentucky's Henderson and Union counties. Multiple tests confirmed the presence of the disease in the deer.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife staff will share insights on CWD, review proposed regulations, answer questions and receive public input.

Hook and Cook - Louisville - Jefferson County

This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-time fisherman, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing.

Day 1 May 6th, 5:30pm-8:30pm, PNC Achievement Center  

The classroom portion covers basic concepts including fish identification, fish habitat, basic equipment, conservation, licensing/regulations, knot tying, both artificial and live bait selection and where to fish. 

Day 2 May 13th, 5:30pm-8:30pm, PNC Achievement Center

The cooking portion includes, but is not limited to: how to filet fish, food preparation and cooking, proper meat storage and food sampling.

Day 3 May 20th 5:30pm-8:30pm, PNC Achievement Center 

The field portion of the class includes fishing at Beckley Creek Park, all equipment and bait will be provided.

Trout Fishing Webinar and Fishing Trip - Russell County

Join the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources for a webinar on Trout Fishing! This program will take place via webinar on Monday, May 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Topics covered will include licensing, regulations, equipment, where to fish for trout, basic trout fishing strategies, and more. Participants are invited to attend a follow up fishing trip on either Wednesday, July 9th  or Wednesday, July 16th at Hatchery Creek. Hatchery Creek is located at the Wolf Creek Dam in Jamestown, KY. All fishing equipment including bait will be provided by KDFWR.

A link to the webinar program will be sent out closer to the date of the program.

Following the webinar a registration will be sent out to all webinar participants for the fishing trip dates. A maximum of 15 spots will be available for each mentor fishing trip. 

A FISHING LICENSE AND TROUT PERMIT ARE REQUIRED TO FISH IN HATCHERY CREEK.

The classroom portion covers basic concepts including fish identification, biology, fish habitat, equipment, conservation, licensing/regulations, knot tying, both artificial and live bait selection, hook removal, fishing safety and when to fish.  

Day 2 May 15th, 6:00pm-9:00pm, Simpsonville Baptist Church 

The second portion includes, but is not limited to: how to filet fish, food preparation and cooking, proper food storage, and food sampling.

Day 3 May 22nd, 6:00pm-9:00pm  Floyds Fork 

This will be the fishing portion of the class. KDFWR will provide all the equipment and bait so participants can test out the newly acquired fishing skills
