3-D ACRHERY AT JONES-KEENEY WMA ARCHERY RANGE HOSTED BY CALDWELL - Caldwell County

30 target 3-D archery course located in the woods and hills of the Jones-Keeney WMA. Hosted by the Caldwell County Sportsman Club. Our targets range from a small armadillo to a buffalo. Your get a unique experience unlike any other, we have moving targets and at times a steel change target. We welcome all ages and skill levels. We use ASA scoring with club rules. We hope to see you sometime out there. We also shoot 3-D year around out side. Also, we are only club that shoot 3-D after 2pm.

Hook and Cook - Lexington - Fayette County

This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-time fisherman, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing.

The classroom portion covers basic concepts including fish identification, biology, fish habitat, equipment, conservation, licensing/regulations, proper selection and use of cooking tools, cooking safety, fish fileting techniques, recipes, proper food handling and storage techniques.

The field portion includes, but is not limited to: location selection, casting techniques, knot tying, both artificial and live bait selection, how to bait a hook, hook removal, safety, when to fish (time of day/time of year), fileting fish, food preparation and cooking. Fish sampling is provided!

Learn to Shoot Trap / Dove Practice - UK Wildlife Extension - Madison County

This course will teach you shotgun operation and safety and the basics of trap/clay target shooting. Whether you are an experienced marksman or a first-time shooter, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started with clay shooting or dove hunting.

This event will take place entirely in the field. This event includes but is not limited to: firearm safety, loading a shotgun, shooting at stationary targets, shooting at moving targets, learning the rules of trap, learning about dove hunting, where to dove hunt, where to practice trap, and more!

Clay targets, shotguns, ammunition, ear protection, and eye protection are provided however your own personal ear/eye protection is recommended.

Trout Fishing Webinar and Fishing Trip - Russell County

Join the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources for a webinar on Trout Fishing! This program will take place via webinar on Tuesday, September 8th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM ET. Topics covered will include licensing, regulations, equipment, where to fish for trout, basic trout fishing strategies, and more. Participants will be invited to attend a follow up fishing trip with a choice of Tuesday, October 13th or Tuesday, October 20th at Hatchery Creek. Hatchery Creek is located at the Wolf Creek Dam in Jamestown, KY. All fishing equipment including bait will be provided by KDFWR.

A link to the webinar program will be sent out closer to the date of the program.

Following the webinar a registration will be sent out to all webinar participants for the fishing trip dates. A maximum of 15 spots will be available for each mentor fishing trip. 

A FISHING LICENSE AND TROUT PERMIT ARE REQUIRED TO FISH IN HATCHERY CREEK.

Cowboy Class - UK Wildlife Extension - Scott County

This course will teach you a brief history of Western firearms, how revolvers and lever action firearms operate, and how to safely use both firearm types. Whether you are an experienced marksman, a first-time shooter or a cowboy enthusiast, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to safely operate western firearms.

The classroom portion covers basic safety principles surrounding firearms as well as a brief history of western American firearms. The classroom portion will also cover how single action revolvers, double action revolvers, and lever action firearms work.

The field portion includes; range procedures and safety, firearms handling, handgun operation and safety, rifle operation and safety, and a friendly shooting game for best shot in a western themed competition.

Firearms, ammunition, targets, ear protection, and eye protection are provided however your own personal ear/eye protection is recommended. Cowboy hats and boots are not provided but are also recommended!
