Regulations
Throughout March and April, trained officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will use prescribed burns for habitat improvement projects in agency WMAs. Fire experts conduct controlled burns to help restore local ecosystems dependent on fire. Local officials have been notified. Please check back for more information.
DOE has identified a portion of Tract 1A and Tract 7A, located along the eastern boundary of the WMA, for transfer to support local economic development. Effective June 30, 2025, 545.66 acres have been removed from Kentucky Fish and Wildlife's Recreational Use License Agreement with DOE. New boundary signage has been installed; please review updated maps before visiting the WMA. West Kentucky WMA continues to offers 5192.7 acres of diverse habitats, providing a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities.

Deer Season Restrictions:
- Archery/Crossbow: Closed During department-administered quota hunts.
- Muzzleloader: Open during department-administered quota hunts only.
- Modern Gun:
- Youth Gun: Open only for youth-mentor quota hunt on βAβ tracks. Closed for all other youth firearms seasons.
- Antlerless-only Special Season: Closed.
Rabbit and Quail: Tracts 4, 5 and βAβ tracts open January 1-10 except if harvest limits are reached before January 10; Tracts 2, 3, 6 and 7 open with statewide seasons and close December 31.
Other Restrictions: Check-in required before entering any area marked with an βA.β Only shotguns may be used for small game or furbearer hunting; Hunters may not use centerfire rifles or handguns to take deer. Tract 1, Tract 1A and portions of Tract 7A at West Kentucky WMA are now closed to public use. Please refer to the maps on this page for the most up-to-date information.
