WHAT IS IT? Kentucky’s Fish and Wildlife Commission meets quarterly in Frankfort to help provide oversight of the department and guide development of the state’s regulations on hunting, fishing, boating and related matters. This is your opportunity to nominate, vote if more than five nominations are received, or be nominated to potentially serve on this important nine-member board.
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE? Resident hunters or anglers in the 8th District who, for the past two consecutive years, held a Kentucky hunting or fishing license or hunted or fished in the Commonwealth while license-exempt under KRS 150.170. Nominees will be chosen at this meeting and submitted to the governor, who will appoint one nominee to a four-year
term on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission ending
Dec. 31, 2026, subject to Kentucky Senate confirmation.
The 8th District includes Bath, Bourbon, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Nicholas, Rowan and Wolfe counties.
WHO MAY BE NOMINATED? Eligible nominees must: be a current resident of the district; not be a convicted felon; for at least the previous five consecutive years, held hunting and fishing licenses or hunted and fished in Kentucky while license-exempt under KRS 150.170; and be well informed about wildlife conservation and restoration.
