This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are experienced or a first-time angler, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing.
Day 1: Tuesday, August 6th 5:30pm-8:30pm CT, Edmonson County Public Library
This classroom portion covers basic concepts including fish identification, biology, fish habitat, equipment, conservation, improving water quality, licensing/regulations, knot tying, both artificial and live bait selection, how to bait a hook, hook removal, safety, when to fish (time of day/time of year).
Day 2: Tuesday August 13th 5:30pm-8:30pm CT, James D. Beville Park Lake in Grayson County
This will be the fishing portion of the class. KDFWR will provide all the equipment and bait so participants can test out the newly acquired fishing skills.
Day 3: Tuesday, August 20th 5:30pm-8:30pm CT, Edmonson County Extension Office
This classroom portion includes, but is not limited to: casting techniques, proper selection and use of cooking tools, food preparation, cooking safety, recipes, proper food handling, cooking, food sampling, fish fileting techniques, and fileting your own fish!
