9:00 AM -The classroom portion covers basic concepts including fish identification, biology, fish habitat, equipment, conservation, licensing/regulations, proper selection and use of cooking tools, cooking safety, fish fileting techniques, recipes, proper food handling and storage techniques.
1:30 PM - Following the classroom portion, the field portion will include but is not limited to location selection, target areas, casting techniques, how to bait a hook, hook removal, safety. A valid KY fishing license is required on the day of the class. KDFWR will provide all the equipment and bait so participants can test out their newly acquired fishing skills.
Plan to attend both the classroom and field portions. Youth participants must be accompanied by a participating adult.
