Description:

This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-time fisherman, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing.

The classroom portion covers basic concepts including fish identification, biology, fish habitat, equipment, conservation, licensing/regulations, proper selection and use of cooking tools, cooking safety, fish fileting techniques, recipes, proper food handling and storage techniques.

The field portion includes, but is not limited to: location selection, casting techniques, knot tying, both artificial and live bait selection, how to bait a hook, hook removal, safety, when to fish (time of day/time of year), fileting fish, food preparation and cooking. Fish sampling is provided!

Directions:

This class will be held at the Enrichment Center 1824 Patrick Drive, Burlington, KY 41005. After the classroom portion we will travel to Camp Ernst Lake at 7615 Camp Ernst Rd, Burlington, KY 41005 for the hands on fishing portion. Transportation from the Erichment Center to Lake will not be provided.
